Ok, we know that editors cover trends, but which do they actually invest in? Fashion is always changing, so how do we know what is really worthwhile? We can go with our gut... or we can go to a fashion editor's apartment and dig through her closet. The thing I've noticed is editors tend to shop a "trend", while bloggers lean towards specific items. Personally, I am pretty thankful that I didn't jump on the blogger-bandwagon with the Chloe Savannah boots. Aren't you? They became such an overnight sensation, that they are already retired. If you did buy them, URGG how annoyed are you... maybe Erin Wasson will buy them from you or maybe just bust them out with full confidence at Coachella?! Anyway, when it comes to trends maybe it's better if we think "idea" and not specific piece, but enough with the "maybes"... I needed to hear it from an editor and not only did I want to hear it... I wanted to see it, touch it and share it with you.

I met up with one of my all time fav fashion editors Karla Martinez de Salas to discuss which Fall trends she is loving, wearing and thinks we should be investing in.

1. Shiny Shoes

"I love metallic shoes – I think they are a great neutral and perfect for day or evening. I'm not a big fan of bronze, but I love silver and gold. I think bronze can easily look cheap. The above are Roger Vivier and I just bought a Prada gold pair that I adore!"

2. AM/PM PJ'S - Karla believes in this look so much, she started a clothing line based on the idea.

"My friend Ceci de Sola and I started Piamita a few years ago after we went on a holiday to the Aeolian Islands and were thinking about chic women in the 70's who wore oversized pajamas and trousers. We always talked about how women (our grandmother's generation) looked amazing even when they were in their pj's. We thought the market was missing something comfortable, but chic."

3. Pouch Power

"I think I can say I officially collect pouches – my first was a gift from my friend Flavia Kelson that was a Comme des Garcons pouch for 130 Euros I saw in Paris and she surprised me with it. I think they have staying power bc they fit everything as well as inside your purse!"

4. Polished Plaid - Not just flannels on the weekend, but plaid prints that we can wear to work or out to dinner.

"I love this plaid/gingham Prada Dress that I bought in Capri – its really feminine and has a little sheen, which means it can go into evening."

5. Non-Black Neutrals

"I resist buying black shoes -  so, I always love a bit of color like these Jimmy Choo's... and this Tod's Bag is saying that Zebra might be the new neutral leopard!"

"Python bags are another great neutral! This one is by Khirma Eliazov who I was an assistant with at Mademoiselle – goes back to not buying all black!"

6. Not - "Clearly" Costume

"This necklace is by Lele Sadoughi a good friend of mine and costume jewelry designer – I love her designs and how people think it looks real!"
