A few years ago I bought two initial necklaces from Phoenix Roze and I don’t think I have taken them off since. Recently, I have been all over Gorjana’s idea of the “Laws of layering” and by laws I mean ideas such as: mixing metals (yes, you can and should mix gold and silver – I love that) and more is more - the idea of multiple necklaces wore at different lengths. My next move has to be a navel length necklace, which is what I want to wear every day this Fall. Shop Gorjana below and at Nordstrom. xxb

You are probably thinking, wow you paired jeans and a white tee. How incredibly innovative of you! But we are a week out from New York Fashion Week and yes, I have been living in these sweatpants and yes, they are sweatpants! Personally, I have always loved the sweatpants trend, but Rag & Bone took it to the next level with these. Not sure how I ever got on an overnight flight before owning them. Shop the look below. xx B

In recent years, I have become a bit skin obsessed and as we all know “fun in the sun” is sadly a nightmare for our skin and will eventually leave us looking like this Valentino Bag that I really want. Anyway, the point is faux tans are the only acceptable option if you want to be tan, “the safe way” (a.k.a. look good in your forties). I will be completely honest, I have yet to find a self tanner that I am completely enamored with. I have tried so, so many and even my favorites have their trade offs. When it comes to self-tanning we can’t have it all yet. It just is what it is. Being hot is a ton of work. Accept it, laugh about it, and read about my favorite faux products below that honestly change your tanning game.

bridget_helene_surface_to_airBefore we get into at-home products, lets discuss your best option, which is one thousand percent an airbrush tan. No, not the booth. I am talking, strip down and get one-on-one with an artist that sprays you. Getting an airbrush used to be crazy expensive, but then it became something that every salon wanted to offer and boom, supply and demand – price went down. Remember when this happened with laser hair removal? It’s always glorious. Give your local salon a call and see if the price has changed or if they are offering package deals. Gotta love a custom airbrush that only costs $30. The negatives of an airbrush tan are: ruining your sheets if you don’t put down ghetto ones or your boyfriend making jokes that you smell like cat pee or chicken. Boys think they are hysterical.

Anyway, I personally don’t care about the smell as it usually only lasts until you do your initial wash, but for those of you who do you are gonna want to try Tanceuticals, which I used for these photos. Yes, if you are psycho and analyzing my feet you will see some tanning errors, but like I said that’s kinda psycho. I like tanceuticals, but I won’t lie you have to be on freaking point with the application. You must use the application Mitt  (which I basically use for all of my self tanner applications now) AND you have to pay close attention because the color does not show up right away and that can lead to streaking. To avoid this, I try to do two thin layers – opposed to one thick one. Tanceuticals also takes about 7 hours to show up so I usually do a thin layer at night and then another in the a.m., which allows me to correct any errors I have made. The smell is my favorite of any self tanner ever… it’s like that coconut sun-block smell. I did not have any boy complaints about smell or any color transfer to my sheets or clothing.

Another great smelling tanner is bareMinerals Faux Tan. It dries quickly, is easy to apply,  isn’t greasy and creates an even tan. I often apply BareMinerals a few days after my airbrush tan. It is literally the perfect solution to keeping the life in your airbrush tan. It also creates this a deep brown color when applied over my spray, which is nice because my spray can pull a bit red or orange. I always, always bring it on vacation as it probably the best tanner out there for a quick fix. It also works as a great everyday tanner, but if you are going to use it on your face, buy the face option as the body one will clog your pores. It is a legit product and a tie for my favorite, along with the St. Tropez mousse.

Finally, I would probably give the best in show award to St. Tropez Tanning Mousse. I love it because you can see the color as you apply, which eliminates errors and personally, that is my biggest concern when choosing a faux tanner. St. Tropez mousse also goes on easily (get the application mitt, its worth it). It dries quickly, isn’t greasy and creates a natural looking tanning. My only complaint is that it’s hard to get super dark using this product, but I can get pretty close after 2-3 applications. It’s literally neck and neck with the BareMinerals, but at the end of the day St. Tropez is the easiest, quickly application.

Risto Bimbiloski, who has headed up the knitwear at Kenzo and Louis Vuitton, knows what’s up. His own line, Risto is inspired by his homeland, Macedonia and the early pop images from MTV (I totally see it, do you not?) and anything that reminds us of old school MTV (a.k.a.Jordan Catalano) is a good thing. I won’t lie I spent over half of my Park City trip in Lulu Lemons… trying to be adventurous. Park City is one of those amazing places with countless things to do. Biking, hiking, zip-lining and all sorts of get hot/ test your courage stuff, which I followed with an “I cannot move, I am going to the spa day”. The food was off the charts, but sadly the nightlife slows down around 1am (it felt like 4am to this East Coaster – so it’s fine. Plus, I knew in the back of my (newly concussed) head (don’t ride the bobsled. DO NOT RIDE THE BOBSLED) I would probably be on top of a mountain in a few hours anyway, so I should actually be thanking someone for forcing sleep on me!). What I lacked in real beauty sleep, I made up for with these Elemis Gel Eye Masks that were amazing in Utah with everything being so, so dry. Oh and don’t you worry, I was able to squeeze in some shopping at my fave Flight Boutique, where you can find all of the outfits below! xxb

Back in the city and back… online. Ok so my site crashed and I was like freaking out. If I look at the “glass half-full” it’s actually a great thing that too many people came to my site at once. You very well could be semi responsible for this happening. Anyway, I spent my newly found “downtime” testing different ways to deal with stress, which mostly involved cocktails and alcohol-induced text to my web developer (sorry Daniel), but I also came across and fell in love with a few anti-stress products. 1). Tata Harper Aromatic Stress Treatment (just rub it on your wrist and breathe) and 2). Eve Lom Muslin cleansing cloths (stress leads to dry, dull skin, Eve Lom cloths are used with cleanser to gently exfoliate and help improve blood circulation, open pores, cleanse and tone skin).

Long story short: I may know a lot about beauty products and putting an outfit together, but when it comes to technology, specifically WordPress, I am kind of clueless. Sorry for the delay, but it’s great to be back. Outfit deets below. xxb

I can’t stop buying tea dresses. I live in them. It’s so easy. You buy them (you can find them pretty cheap), hem the bottom if you have the patience… I prefer to cut them and leave the edge raw for more of that rocker, a la Kate Moss, I just woke up look. Anyway, let’s say you have a job (wishful thinking)… so to work you wear your tea dress with heels, paired with a boyfriend cardigan, belted at the waist. Then post work, you lose the cardi, your bra and maybe even the heels (depending where you are going, but I actually prefer the look with flats or boots), add your fave fitted leather jacket and ta da. coolest girl ever. Check out my tea dress gallery below. xxb

A lace dress can be read a lot of ways: bohemian, elegant, grandma, slutty, etc. so lets discuss a few guidelines. I think it’s all about keeping the silhouette somewhat simple and the color at least somewhat neutral. Avoid anything neon… (actually, lets just avoid neon all together for the time being.. lace or no lace). Also, keep an eye on the quality… lace can get cheap looking quick. Finally, I would steer clear of super short. Your outfit basically has holes in it so you can show a little less leg on lace day!

The For Love & Lemons dress I am wearing here did come with a slip, but instead I paired it with high-waisted Spanx and a bandeau bra, which left me baring about 3 inches of midriff but… the best three inches (you know the skinny part right under your chest, which is basically ribs). Anyway, losing the slip felt fresher, less contrived and just more me. I want literally everything in the products below and don’t worry it’s not too late for lace. I plan on wearing mine into the Fall. I don’t do tights, but how chic will our lace dresses be in the winter with a fur. xxb

Season after season Iro is always one of my favorite collections. I remember meeting Arik and Laurent Bitton, the brothers behind the brand years ago (maybe 06 or 07) at a trade show for “up-and-coming designers”. Back then Iro was a collection of tee’s, dresses and maybe a few styles of jeans. The second I laid eyes on it, I began begging the brothers to let me write an order for the store I was the buyer for at the time. I knew immediately that they had mastered something. Not only do they offer the perfect fitting leather jacket, but even more impressive is the overall idea of what girls want to dress like. It’s cool, fresh, casual yet sexy at the same time. I am not the friend you should call when debating whether or not to buy something. If you ask me, the answer is… YES. Every. Single. Time. I will literally co-sign off on anything. Sure you can’t pay your rent, but I’m sure you’re gorgeous and insanely resourceful or… whatever. You know what they say, “Life is short, buy the shoes”.

So for me, buying something new on the 4th, which is infamous for sales… is a given! And being the great blogger that I am I linked all of the sales below, well the good ones anyway. So while you lay by the pool, drinking your face off, buy yourself something awesome and no need to ask me first, it’s the perfect day to be independent! xxb
