So, not to go all nostalgic on you, but before the days of careers, Instagram and even boys... we had one thing... our friends. Everything was a bit easier in those days. We had no bills, no real pressure and the only competition was who would have the darkest friendship bracelet tan lines and the coolest Trapper Keeper come September. I like mixing in that old school summer style around my wrists, as a reminder of how fun and simple things used to be and nothing looks cuter than the contrast of bright neon string against a fresh tan. I like to wear my friendship bracelets all summa (starting around Coachella time)... tie them super tight, watch them fade into a cool bleached-out situation (from the sun and salt water) and then cut them off in the fall. You obviously need more than one, as having one friend is not a good look, but any more than three starts to look aggressive as we are no longer 7 years old, and we most likely no longer have 15 best friends.
I am totally obsessing over Namah Bijou. The designer, Stephanie, is a spiritual sweetheart who delivers a quality product for a GREAT price (finally, I mean we are talking about tied strings after all) and offers custom EVERYTHING. You can add your initials to the mini gold plate which is placed in the middle of your fishtail friendship bracelet set, keep one for yourself, and give 2 away. I like to mix the friendship bracelets with my usual Dannijo and Eddie Borgo gold arm candy. Namah also offers cute little gold bars and I LOVE the thin gold strands with neon yellow Swarvoski Pearls.
She also does the beaded/leather pieces that Janete is rocking below which make you look tanner than Zoom teeth whitening ever will.
PS - while we are at the beach and on this whole cheap and chic thing... I figured why not let you know about my COVER UP that Janete is wearing below. I received about 45,647 compliments when I wore this bad boy out. Click on the pic below and buy your own for... UHMMM $14.00. It also comes in black.... you need both. You are welcome! NAMASTE
